LED vs Halogen Landscape Lights
Brite Nites offers a full selection of LED lighting on almost every landscape lighting fixture. We understand the cost of LED lights can seem overwhelming at first, but below is a brief overview of the money you save when you choose LED lighting over halogen bulbs.
One thing to consider when purchasing bulbs is the time rating. Most LED bulbs are rated for around 40,000 to 50,000 hours; that’s over 11 years if you have them on for 12 hours a day! Halogen lights are only rated for around 2,000 hours. This means that if you want your lights to remain on for the same amount of time as an LED bulb, you would have to buy 25 replacement bulbs at $7.99/bulb! LED bulbs are much more advanced and cost effective in the end.

Halogen Bulbs
A basic halogen bulb uses about 20Watts of energy. Convert this to kWh (unit of energy that is equivalent to one kilowatt (1kW) of power expended for one hour).
Daily Energy Usage: Watts (20) x Time Used (12 hrs) / 1000 = 0.24kWh per day
Annual Energy: 0.24kWh x 365 days = 87.6kWh
Utah charges 8.8 cents per 1kWh
Annual bill for 1 Halogen 20 Watt Bulb: 8.8 cents x 87.6kWh = $7.70
LED Bulbs
An LED 3 Watt is the same brightness as a Halogen 20 Watt Bulb. Convert this to kWh (Unit of energy that Is equivalent to one kilowatt (1kW) of power expended for one hour).
Daily Energy Usage: Watts (3) x Time Used (12hrs) ÷ 1000 = 0.036kWh per day
Annual Energy: 0.036kWh x 365 days = 13.14kWh
Utah charges 8.8 cents per 1kWh
Annual Bill for 1 LED 3Watt (20 Watt Equivalent) Bulb: 8.8 cents x 13.14kWh = $1.16
